May her memory be a blessing to you, cara Cheryl! I felt your love for her in every word.

We loved Aria, too. I’ll always be thankful for the joy she brought during Covid lockdown when she would stop by for her treats I lowered down in a basket from our balcony. She made me smile every time. Our cat Gino is waiting for her. 🐈‍⬛💕

Hi Cheryl,

I've followed your substack for a while - its always thoughtful and insightful, but this was just so touching.

A beautiful tribute, no doubt much appreciated by a spirit running after cats on another plane now :)

Hang in there through grief and emptiness

Thank you, I’m hanging in. It helps, very much, to hear that it touched you.

It will take time to adjust. Grace has been gone 10 months and I feel her presence every day. I'm sorry for your loss. Aria sounded like a wonderful girl.

I am so sorry. I'm writing this with blurry vision and a wet face. Those last photos of her...

What a wonderful spirit she was. And you, in turn, were an amazing companion.

The loss is real. Be gentle with yourself these next few weeks.

Sending you love.

I’m in tears, Aria was beautiful, your life together was beautiful. She was so very clever to have found you—the exact right person to share her life with. I’ve been through this and I am grieving with you.

Cheryl, I'm so sorry. It sounds like Aria was truly the best friend a person could have. I only knew her during her Berkeley/Aurora-tormenting days but she was indeed a beauty.

What a beautiful dog. We have two dogs and we watch my son’s dog frequently ( he works 24 hour shifts, he’s a paramedic). There are days when I want and probably do complain about the time they all require. I was hesitant to get another dog after our last one pasted away only because it’s so difficult to say goodbye to them. I sitting here surrounded by 3 dogs and just writing that last comment made me miss our dog that passed away. I feel your pain. Again, it was a pleasure to meet her. The older I get the more I agree with Mark Twain’s comment, “ The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog” especially with the current events of our country.
