So much of this is relatable! Just last week, I removed social media apps from my phone and iPad (I can still access the sites, but I have to type in the web address - and just that additional step is a deterrent). It’s amazing how I no longer feel the pull of the phone with that one simple step.
And many years ago I turned off all notifications on my phone - no ding, no pop up banner, no red dot. It has made a huge difference. I still pick up my phone probably too frequently to check for texts, but I don’t feel the same compulsion and distraction I felt with the notifications. Highly recommend!
Wow, you are serious about disconnecting! I will work toward your level of independence when I'm feeling brave someday. Happy to report, though, that when I do check in on social media these days I leave relatively quickly. I really hate how tied to social media authors are expected to be (at least non-famous ones), even though there's not much evidence that promoting books that way is very successful. Also, thank you for your pledge; I really appreciate the vote of confidence!
Love me some Yoda! Although my brain fog isn't completely lifting, I am making progress on my move to Spain. Signed my rental contract yesterday and headed to my bank today for wiring deposits, etc. Thanks for the continued inspiration, Cheryl.
Thanks for giving us a good shake. We need to get out more, breathe the fresh air even if it’s cold, hug our friends and tell them thanks for being them. 🤗
Glad to hear the fog is lifting! Here in Western New York, the lack of sunlight for weeks on end has led to sloth like lethargy which I'm doing my best to fight. I bought a Total Gym and spent half an hour just removing the styrofoam from the components. Then I felt exhausted and wanted a cheeseburger, but hey, baby steps. :) Today I'm committing to a half hour workout and I'll keep adding time till I see some definition in these old muscles. Wish me luck! I believe the more we move, the clearer our brains will feel.
Brava! In bocca al lupo! And yes, nothing helps the ol' brain more than using the body. We've had a pretty dark winter so far too, and it definitely makes it harder to rally. Go ahead and eat that cheeseburger! Hope you love your gym!
Ahh, yes. These are the reasons I am leaving the US and moving to Europe for a quieter, simpler and more people-connected life.
Hope you find a most fulfilling life in a place that feeds your soul!
I am in the early stages of my own Journey Away from Near-Constant Scrolling and Watching. Thank you for the inspiration!
You can do it! I hereby proclaim this the JAfNCSaW support group!
As always, love your work
I admire how nice you are in your responses to our comments
Aw, thank you!
Loving reading you. But, please, don't worry about congiuntivo: I'm absolutely, totally sure that you are using it so much better than many of us!!!😉
Haha, I doubt that! But it's a challenge I WILL succeed at! Thanks so much, I really appreciate having you as a reader.

The article from Gurwinder was very informative and comprehensive. Disturbing as well. Thank you for providing the link.
Yes, agreed. Thanks for taking the time to read it. It was an eye-opener for me!

Excellent! That move date will be here before you know it! Keep pushing through that fog!
Hurrah!!

Always available for a walk/coffee/drink/hug!
