I read the book and I loved it! Looking forward to see the movie!
And I also suggest you another book by Viola Ardone. The title is "Oliva Denaro" and it is a great book inspired (I suppose) by the famous (infamous) story of Franca Viola. It is enlightening and very well written.
How beautiful and inspiring! We need these stories now more than ever to remind us that kindness still exists in the world. I subscribe to the Good News Network emails for the same reason.
That film made me cry…. Stupendo us actors ,realistic dialogue , even if the Neapolitan dialetto was beyond My comprehension .
Back in the 60s My parents did a similar thing - the” Fresh air Fund” sent kids from big city ghetto (NYC) to rural New England and the little boys spent a couple of weeks in the country side , Some of them caught poison Ivy, theyswam in the lake,to ok care of animals, ate locali produced food and went back home healthier and after seeing a slice of different life from the tenements.
Much needed optimism

Wow, I admire your parents! How wonderful.
Italian subtitles make the napoletano decipherable!
I've been living in Italy for almost 17 years, and I don't remember ever hearing this story 😳 How embarrassing.
Such a timely post and absolutely fascinating subject. Definitely want to see this film...
