Ah Cheryl, good one. Way to make unexpected progress in the face of hellish temps!

After a summer in Rome (back in the 80s!) I knew that, as much as I love Italy, I could not handle the heat. Climate was the number one consideration when we chose Porto. It is 70 and cloudy here now.

The flip side is it is cold and rainy all winter here. You take the good with the bad I guess.

Yes, there's always a tradeoff. I do miss the moderate temperatures in the Bay Area! Glad to hear I can put Porto on my list of places to visit in summer!

It’s sweltering heat and humidity here in Spain, too! So happy that you and your lovely “new” room are at peace.

Cheryl we’ve just moved to Molise, also steamy! We have several questions. Would you be willing to email me privately?

YAY!!! And Congratulations!!! What a relief! Our place came with furniture as well, including an awful armoire that is falling apart and we absolutely need to have it removed, along with at least one dresser. Some things just can't be salvaged.

I am a hoarder. I can't say no to free items. I can't ride my bike or walk past a free pile/box on a street (PNW phenomenon) without stopping and perusing. But now I'm getting rid of things, even things that are useful. My new mantra is 'the universe will provide', and it's true.

One question though, Cheryl, could you have lowered the wall armadio pieces down to the street on a rope through a window? Crazy thought maybe.

Not a crazy thought at all, but not possible from that room, purtroppo!
